CHWC – Catholic Heart WorkCamp 2011

THIS IS A MISSION TRIP!!!....and we are waiting for YOU to join us!!!!  Demand for attendance at Catholic Heart WorkCamps has increased tremendously over the years.  So much so that we are going to have to get our registrations in earlier than ever!!!!  This is a “heart changing” experience as Ann Kuhn put it this year!!!  If you LOVE to help people and want to truly LIVE your faith – THIS IS FOR YOU!!!!  Leigha was inspired by this quote at CHWC this year “LIVE in the CHURCH – GO to the WORLD” and this will be our theme for 2011 MT!

Our timeline is a follows:

Sunday, September 26, 2010:  ROCKS will talk with teens eligible for the Fall of 2011 at CCD (You must be going into 8th Grade in the Fall of 2011 to participate.)

Sunday, September 26, 2010:  There will be a Mission Trip information meeting for teens and parents interested in Catholic Heart Workcamp 2011 at 11:45 following Mass in the Social Hall.

Sunday, October 3, 2010:  Mission Trip Registration Forms and $75 due. (Scholarship help available if needed.)

Please note that once you sign the registration form, it is a binding document stating that you will be attending CHWC with the St. James ROCKS on the designated date(s).  If you choose to not attend after signing this document, you will still be financially responsible for paying the cost of camp attendance which is $305.

Our St. James Parish is very supportive of our mission trips.  Fundraising is a big part of our bonding experience as well as how we are able to go serve God’s people!  All missionaries are required to attend ROCKS events and participate in fundraisers.  There are no exceptions.

MISSION TRIP 2010 - WEEEEEE'RE BAAAAAAAAAACK!

Britanie & Tiffany Breetz, Brittany Haag, Ann Kuhn, Janiel Henley, Leigha Pieri, Alysia Smith,  Brenda Trombitas & Kathy Perry – the 2010 Missionaries have stories to tell about our week of helping people in Toledo as part of Catholic Heart WorkCamp.  We look forward to sharing them with you at all liturgies this weekend.

Greetings from our Graduates”

Isaac Summers, 2010 Graduate of Kennedy Catholic High School

Isaac is the son of Bob and Mary Jo Summers and brother to Nicole, Alicia, Sarah, & Dominic.  He plans to attend the Pittsburgh Seminary at St. Paul’s and will study at Duquesne.  His ultimate dream is to be an inspiration to others while his faith guides him through life.

Isaac has served our parish family as an Altar Server and by helping with Vacation Bible School and attending CCD (in addition to going to Catholic School) and GIFT.  His best memory of St. James is Vacation Bible School with Joey Cochran.  Isaac would like to be remembered at St. James as a young man with a joyful spirit.  Something you may not know about Isaac is that he currently works at Wendy’s.

Other accomplishments that Isaac is most proud of are:  3 year starter on the baseball team, 7 mission trips to various parts of the country, and WYD ’08 in Australia, as well as multiple retreat teams.  Isaac’s personal message to us is: “Don’t lose sight of God.”

R.O.C.K.S. NOTES!!!

ROCKS Movie Night was SO inspirational!!!  We all enjoyed the movie “5 People You Meet in Heaven.”  So many life lessons were packed into this wonderful movie…..”Strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet.”  Really made us think how our every action affects others – or even our lack of action.  Every word is powerful just as every word unspoken holds the ability to change things.  Joey, Brittany, Alysia, Leigha and Janiel can tell you more about it.  You will find them and many other St. James ROCKS on our ROCKS Face Book site – check it out and read the bulletin and your e-mail.

R.O.C.K.S. SCHEDULE
Schedule please note that permission slips for all ROCKS events can be picked up from the Youth Ministry Box located in the church office hallway. You can drop off the completed forms there also, but do not leave money.
